Why the Asian-American Social Welfare Foundation?

The Asian Americans constitute 10% of the general population in California. The AASWF is organized to work with the existing organizations, to promote individual growth, young and old, marital harmony, family strength, immigration settlement, and community awareness, to provide training for volunteers to generate maximum citizen participation to integrate into the American mainstream.

Current Goal

In view of the felt needs of the Asian-Americans, we are currently focusing on the Asian senior ‘s care needs. Some families may not be able to provide the level of care their own elders need. A lot of time, the son or the daughter need to work so they can’t stay home to provide care. AASWF have established two programs: Senior Comfort Living (www.seniorcomfortliving.com).  It is a referral program of trained caregivers to the needy seniors at home. The other one is setting up Asian Senior Living program in existing assisted living and memory care facilities. We make sure there are the meals, activities, language, spiritual or other counselors that they can understand and participate, and feel like it’s their home. Our long range/ultimate goal is to establish a complete continuous care residential community(CCRC) for Asian American seniors.
